GUILLORY GUITAR SCHOOL |
THE "C & D" SHAPES |
The "C & "D" shapes merge into one extended voicing. Think of the C shape on the lower strings, and the D shape on the upper three strings. It has the same voicing as the G shape but is a fourth higher. The main feature of the voicing are the two major-thirds. Use this shape to position your hand below a bass root note on the 5th string |
The fingering is shown here. A first finger barre on strings 1 to 3, gives the fifth and top major-third. The 3rd finger frets the major third on the 4th string. The roots are played by the 4th and 2nd fingers on the 5th, and 2nd string.
Releasing the second finger uncovers a major seventh (below).
When the root is played with the 3rd fiinger, a dominant seventh, a ninth, or a high fifth, are easily reached with the fourth finger. |
